FBI agents obtained a sealed search warrant to search Senator Ron Calderon's office due to their suspicion of criminal activity.

To obtain a valid search warrant there must be probable cause accompanied by an affidavit and a seal of approval by a judge.

The investigation is at its early stages ad no arrests have been made. The judge has sealed certain documents related to the search warrant to protect the pending investigation which is not an unusual thing stated FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller.

Calderon was elected to state Senate in 2006 and has previously served four years in the state Assembly. His area of representation is the 30th District, which includes Whittier, La Mirada, Montebello, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, South El Monte and Hacienda Heights.

Calderon is chairman of four Senate committees including Insurance, the Select Committee on Film and Television Industries, International Business and Trade and the Economic Development. The Montebello native also is a member of the committees on Banking and Financial Institutions, California Wine Industry, the Joint Committee on the Arts, Environmental Quality and Governmental Organization. He also is a member of the California Film Commission.

Back in February 2010 the Fair Political Practices Commission stated in an announcement that Calderon agreed to pay a fine of $600 for failing to disclose a $189.94 gift from Medtronic, Inc., for a meal, a $250 gift from CA Telecom Association for a golf fee, and a $300 gift from Verizon for concert tickets in his annual statement of economics interest.

Several cities in Calderon's district have been the target of federal and state corruption probes and there was a recent conviction of Bell officials for charges of corruption.

Therefore, fraudulent activity has been an occurring situation and the Feds are now heavily investigation Ron Calderon and the search warrant was just the beginning.

A 32 year old city woman, Odette Arias, was arrested on Thursday October 4, 2012 after a search warrant was executed by local and federal authorities. A valid search warrant gives authorities the right to come on to the place specified to be searched and explore, investigate, and seek out that place. A valid warrant must specify the places to be searched and the items to be seized; otherwise any item seized for the purpose of using it as evidence, will be a fruit of the poisonous tree and may be excluded during trial.

When searching Arias's home, officers discovered 16 grams of cocaine, 200 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded .45 caliber handgun under the kitchen table. She was immediately arrested.

When Arias appeared in court, she pled not guilty to drug and weapons possession.

She is being in lieu of $100,000 bail.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the man suspected in alleged day-time robberies of several students on the UC Berkeley campus.

A man named Kody Smith is being accused of threatening two students into withdrawing money from an on-campus ATM in separate incidents earlier in September 2012.

In both incidents, Smith asked the students to purchase magazine subscriptions and when they refused, Smith allegedly walked them to an ATM on campus and forced them to withdraw money and hand it to him.

Two weeks after the incident, after some investigation, police identified Smith as the suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest which gives law enforcement the authority to arrest him at any time of the day or night.

He has been booked on an arrest warrant and bail is set at $75,000. He will likely face charges of robbery.

Man Arrested for Threatening To Shoot Children; Search Warrant Served

A male suspect was arrested on Monday September 17, 2012, out of his home on suspicion of threatening to shoot children.

In a public, internet blog, the suspect stated that "they were watching kids and did not mind murdering them", and the blogger also stated that it would be like the Aurora, Colorado shooting that occurred in a movie theatre a couple of months ago that left 12 dead and 58 injured.

The sheriff's Santa Clarita Valley Station Police were alerted and alarmed by this situation and used the information to obtain a search warrant of the home the internet blog was linked to.

Detectives found that the blog was linked to a residence in the 23000 block of Edenton Place in Valencia, a home which overlooked Santa Clarita Elementary School and Arroyo Seco Junior High School.

When the search warrant was served, several guns were discovered and a suspect was arrested and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Station.

The blog was valid enough to obtain a search warrant. It posed an imminent threat to the public and there was no time to waste. In some instances, a search warrant may be based on a mere tip from an informant which is not sufficient enough; a valid warrant needs to have an underlying affidavit that shows probable cause of a crime or evidence of a crime in the place to be searched.

The search warrant in this case based on the blog is likely to be considered valid.

Tin Nguyen, a 29 year old known Union city Vietnamese gang member, was able to escape from officers attempting to serve him a no-bail, felony arrest warrant late Sunday September 9, 2012.

When authorities tried to make contact, Nguyen, who is known for the weapons he possesses, ran out and locked himself in a Fremont home causing an overnight standoff. Police brought in a Vietnamese translator but were unable to speak to the suspect. The SWAT teams also showed but were unable to locate Nguyen.

Police suspect that he escaped from the roof through the home's attic.

Neighbors stated they saw an unknown person in a backyard during the search.

Nguyen still remains at large and his warrant for arrest still in effect. As soon as he is found he will be arrested immediately.

The Santa Clara County arrest warrant for Nguyen, who has prior handgun violations, is for drug-related charges, including drug possession and being under the influence.

A bench warrant has been issued for the Connecticut man accused of failing to pay prize money for holes-in-one at golf tournaments after he didn't show up for his arraignment today in King County Superior Court.

Kevin Kolenda, 55, is in quite a situation.

He is the owner of a company that insures golf tournament prize money for holes in one. According to investigation, Kolena allegedly failed to make good prize money amounting to thousands of dollars

He is charged with five counts of engaging in an unauthorized insurance transaction and has a bench warrant issued under his name.

Kolenda is the owner of a company that specializes in insuring golf-tournament prize money for holes-in-one. Kolenda failed to make good on thousands of dollars in prize money offered to golfers at various tournaments throughout the state over the past nine years and now he is being charged with engaging in an unauthorized insurance transaction.

Golf tournament organizers would get charged an insurance premium that ranged from between several hundred dollars to more than a $1,000.

One incident in 2003, Kolenda illegally sold insurance for a tournament at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, but refused to pay up when a golfer got a hole-in-one and tried to claim the $10,000 prize, charging documents say.

In 2004, he refused to make good on a $50,000 prize won during a tournament at the Royal Oaks Country Club in Vancouver, Washington according to court document allegations.

In 2010, Kolenda sold coverage for a $25,000 hole-in-one prize at a golf tournament on June 14 in Snohomish and refused to pay.

He was charged with similar crimes in Montana in July.

Now, since Kolenda has failed to appear to his arraignment, a bench warrant has been issued in his name which means that law enforcement has the authority to arrest him at any time of the day or night.

Wesley Thomason was arrested for allegedly providing illegal drugs to minors and filming himself engaged in sexual acts with more than one minor about 12 years ago. Well, prior to his appearance in court, Thomason decided not to appear and he fled to Fairfax County.

The United States Marshal Service and the Fairfax County Fugitive Task Force had information that led them to believe that Thomason was currently living in Mexico. Mexican authorities located and arrested Thomason and sent him to California on July 20. On July 31, Thomason was returned to Fairfax County and was processed into the Fairfax County jail on a bench warrant related to his previous charges of carnal knowledge, manufacturing sexually explicit material involving a minor, possession of cocaine, and indecent liberties.

Due to his failure to appear to his court date, the judge issued the bench warrant and once Thomason was located, he was arrested and taken to jail pursuant to the warrant. Arrest and bench warrants give law enforcement the right to arrest you at any time and that is why if you know you have a warrant issued in your name you should call an attorney immediately to possibly get the warrant recalled; unlike Thomason who was found and arrested without any knowledge.

Wes Scantlin has found himself in a little more hot water.

A bench warrant hold was issued for the Puddle of Mudd frontman, Wes Scantlin, on Wednesday August 8, 2012 after the singer failed to appear in court to show proof he enrolled in a drug rehab program.

His attorney was present; however, Scantlin's presence was also required. He s now ordered to appear in court on August 17th to have the bench warrant lifted.

As part of a plea agreement, Scantlin had pled guilty to his felony cocaine charge in early July and the District Attorney dropped his two misdemeanors of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and driving without a license.

Scantlin is currently under 18 months' deferred judgment, which includes a drug counseling program. Upon completion of the program, the charges could be dropped.

Jeffrey Reed Parish, 65, who was wanted for multiple state violations for the past 18 years, was taken into custody by police in Guatemala and returned to the United States on Saturday July 14, 2012. Investigators in the U.S. recently developed information that led them to Guatemala.

Parish was charged by the Santa Barbara District Attorney in 1994 with lewd and lascivious acts with a child; oral copulation with a child; and failure to appear.

Parish had been scheduled for trial in Santa Barbara Municipal Court on March 31, 1994 and when he failed to appear an arrest warrant was issued by the court. A federal arrest warrant was also issued by the United States District Court, Central District of California in June 1994 when authorities found out Parish had left the jurisdiction.

It is anticipated that the United States government will dismiss the federal UFAP charge and that Parish will be prosecuted by the District Attorney in Santa Barbara County.

That's So Raven star Orlando Brown is in so much trouble.

The 24-year-old That's So Raven star, Orlando Brown, was scheduled to appear in court on Friday June 29, 2012 in connection to his 2011 DUI case and failed to show up.

The reason Brown had to come to court on Friday was because back in May he was arrested as a result of another warrant because he had failed to provide proof that he had enrolled in an alcohol education program; therefore, he was suppose to show up to court Friday to present proof that he signed up for the classes.

So now, the judge has issued another bench warrant and has set a $40,000 bail.

Having a bench warrant issued in your name can have you living in a paranoid state of mind because bench warrants give law enforcement the authority to arrest you anywhere and at any time of the day or night.

For that reason, it is highly recommended that you hire a bench warrant lawyer to assist you in the matter.

Our Los Angeles Bench Warrant Attorneys will go to court for you, speak to the judge, and do everything we can to keep you out of jail and get your bench warrant recalled.

When a person has a warrant for arrest, law enforcement has the authority to arrest that person at any time of the day or night and anywhere whether in public or in the home.

Officers went to the home of Sean Andre Cadieux, 33, with a warrant for the arrest for drug-related and other charges.

As officers approached the house Cadieux and another man, Brian Christopher Restad, 34, ran off. Both were arrested after a short pursuit.

Officers then entered the home and arrested four more people.

Cadieux was booked on suspicion of violating parole and possessing and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Restad was booked on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, receiving stolen property, conspiracy and violating parole.

Nathan Allen Guay, 34, was booked on suspicion of violating parole.

All three men were being held at Southwest Detention Center in French Valley without bail.

Three others, two men and a woman, were booked on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
